Sustainability Strategy
Through our sustainability strategy, we are embedding environmental, social and economic responsibility across all areas of our university, and in doing so we aim to set an example for transformation and a more sustainable future. Sustainability should be understood not as an isolated measure, but as a cross-cutting priority.
Looking out onto the Alps, we are creating a green campus that combines tradition with a sustainable future.
Education for sustainable development is based on six areas of action
The strategy is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and was developed between 2023 and 2025 in collaboration with members of the university community through a series of workshops. During this process, existing activities were identified, objectives were formulated and measures were derived.
The sustainability strategy brings together the university’s objectives across six areas of action: sustainable teaching, research, governance, campus operations, student engagement, and networking and knowledge transfer. It complements the integrated climate protection plan from 2022, which sets out specific measures for reducing emissions and improving energy efficiency. Whilst that concept focuses primarily on operational climate protection measures, the sustainability strategy provides the framework for the university’s holistic development in line with environmental, economic and social objectives.
