Lecture and semester dates

Start of lecture period

• Winter semester

In the winter semester the lecture period starts on 1 October. If this date falls on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, then lectures start on the following Monday.

• Summer semester
  In the summer semester lectures start on 15 March. If this date falls on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, then the lecture period starts on the following Monday.

Lecture-free period

• Winter semester
  No lectures are held during the Christmas period from 24 December to 6 January (inclusive). If 24 December falls on a Sunday, Monday or Tuesday, then the lecture-free period starts on the preceding Saturday.
• Summer semester
  No lectures are held over Easter from Maundy Thursday to the Tuesday after Easter (inclusive). At Whitsun there are no lectures from the Friday before Whitsun to the Tuesday after Whitsun (inclusive).
