Robotics and Machine Intelligence - RoMI - is a future-oriented Bachelor’s degree for international students who want to combine robotics, engineering, software development and artificial intelligence — and prepare for a career in Germany’s technology sector. The program prepares students to develop intelligent robotic and cyber-physical systems for real-world applications.
From engineering fundamentals to intelligent robotic systems, the program follows a modern robotics perspective: Students build a strong foundation in mathematics, computer science, engineering basics, artificial intelligence and learn how these areas come together in robotics. A key strength of the program is its focus on software for real technical systems.
In short, Robotics and Machine Intelligence is about technical understanding of robotics, software development, systems thinking, and the ability to turn ideas into working solutions.

Course content
From technical foundations to intelligent robotic systems
The curriculum is designed as a step-by-step pathway into modern robotics. In the first study phase, students build essential knowledge in informatics, mathematics, and engineering basics. These foundations are important for understanding robotic systems not only as software applications, but as real technical systems with sensors, actuators, control mechanisms and physical behavior. In parallel, German language courses and Technical German are integrated into the curriculum.
In the next phase, the focus shifts towards programming, artificial intelligence, robotics, sensor technology, software engineering, simulation and autonomous systems. Students learn how to connect computational methods with engineering applications and how to develop software for machines that interact with the real world.
The later semesters include an internship semester, advanced robotics and AI topics, technical electives and the Bachelor’s thesis. This allows students to apply their knowledge in practical contexts and to develop an individual profile in fields such as embedded AI, autonomous systems, industrial robotics or sensitive and medical robotics.
Start in English. Grow into German
The English-language start of the study program is designed especially for international students. It allows students to begin their studies in an accessible international study environment while gradually developing the German language skills needed for the later stages of the program.
German language learning is an integrated part of the curriculum. German B1, German B2 and Technical German prepare students step by step for advanced technical modules taught in German, the internship semester and professional communication in Germany.
This language pathway is a key advantage for international students. You can start your studies in English, while building the language skills that support your academic progress and open up career opportunities in Germany’s engineering and technology sector.

The study program Robotics and Machine Intelligence prepares graduates for careers in fields where engineering, software and intelligence come together. In order to be admitted to the degree programme, you must meet certain requirements and submit the relevant documents with your application.
When can you apply for the degree programme?
- with a higher education entrance from abroad please apply via uni-assist from 1 May - 30 November for a study start in March (summer semester)
- with a German education entrance please apply via TH Rosenheim application portal from 1 November - 15 January for a study start in March (summer semester)
How can you apply for the degree programme?
- Apply only via uni-assist if you have obtained your higher education entrance qualification outside Germany
- Apply via the TH Rosenheim online application portal if you have obtained your higher education entrance in Germany
