A Rosenheim Student Serves as an Expert at the QS Higher Education Summit
From a semester abroad to the big stage: Philipp Braun, a student in the “International Management” master’s program at Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences, is spending his semester abroad at the Universidad Panamericana in Mexico—and was invited there to serve as an expert on a panel discussion at the QS Higher Education Summit: Americas 2026.
The summit, held in early October in Guadalajara, brought together more than 450 leaders from higher education, business, and politics. The focus was on how Latin American universities can strengthen their role in the global educational landscape and further promote international exchange.
Braun shared the perspective of a German student. His key messages are:
- The perception of Latin America (LATAM)—and Mexico in particular—in Germany is often more critical than his personal experiences there, especially regarding safety.
- He particularly appreciates the openness and warmth of the people, as well as their laid-back attitude toward life.
- When choosing a place to study, university rankings are very important in LATAM. For Germans—and for him in particular—the Spanish language, getting to know the culture, and the cuisine were the deciding factors.
- As a final difference, he noted that in Germany, universities are mostly public, whereas in LATAM they tend to be private institutions. As a result, campus life varies greatly.
The presentation shows how business administration students from Rosenheim operate internationally—not just attending lectures, but actively shaping intercultural exchange and contributing to the global academic dialogue.
