Together with students from Satakunta University of Applied Sciences (SAMK) as well as from Portugal (UAL Lisboa), Belgium (PXL Hasselt) and Romania (UMFST Târgu Mureș), six students from Rosenheim Technical University worked together on the topic ‘Business Intelligence – ESG Case Study with Microsoft Power BI’.
The Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) was hosted by Satakunta University of Applied Sciences (SAMK) in Pori, Finland, from 6 to 10 October 2025. The participants worked in international teams to develop practical ESG (environmental, social, governance) reporting scenarios. By developing interactive dashboards in Microsoft Power BI, the students were able to visualise sustainability metrics and make data-driven decisions in a business context.
In addition to the intensive workshops and team projects, there was also a cultural and social programme. In the creative icebreaker game ‘Building Bridges with Spaghetti,’ the students got to know each other in a playful way and demonstrated their teamwork skills. A joint pizza evening provided an opportunity for relaxed conversation and exchange across national borders. A special highlight was a visit to a Finnish ice hockey game, which offered participants authentic insights into Finnish sports culture and was crowned by a well-deserved victory for the local team.
The week ended with the final presentation. The teams presented their Power BI dashboards and discussed innovative approaches to improving ESG strategies in companies. The students were able to gain valuable international experience and receive 3 ECTS credits for this week, which can be counted towards their studies.
The BIP was coordinated by Marcel van Geffen (SAMK). Alexander Kühn accompanied the programme on behalf of TH Rosenheim.
