Research Field Model-Based Design

Established commercial software tools (i.a. from MathWorks) are used for the application of model-based development techniques. Concepts, developed in theory and investigated in simulation, are tested on practical test benches using Rapid Control Prototyping (RCP) systems with several high-performance processor cores and FPGAs.

Design automation for motion control systems
Modular real-time systems, such as dSPACE Scalexio or SoC-based systems with in-house developed, high-performance peripherals, are used as RCP systems. Code is generated directly from the simulation model in an automated workflow – for both, processor cores and FPGAs. Similarly, software tools from Cadence with an automated interface for model-based development are used for ASIC circuit design. To model complex systems and automate the workflows for code generation, the research team has built a modeling and automation platform that is continuously being improved.
