Under the motto “DIVERSE Student Leadership Academy: Leadership and Employability Skills in Multicultural Environments”, a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) took place at Algebra Bernays University in Zagreb at the beginning of July. The 18 participants from the partner universities of the DIVERSE European University Alliance form the newly established Student Board of the DIVERSE Alliance and used the programme week to further develop their leadership, communication and employability skills in an international setting. The focus was on intercultural exchange, collaboration in multinational teams and actively shaping the future development of the Alliance.
Tatjana Erlewein represented Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences at the event and led a workshop on Wednesday on the topic of ‘Team Building in Intercultural Teams’. During the workshop, the students explored strategies for intercultural communication and developed approaches for working together successfully in multicultural and interdisciplinary teams, as well as for constructively resolving potential misunderstandings.
“I have rarely encountered such a motivated and inquisitive group. The students engaged intensively with the challenges and opportunities of intercultural collaboration and demonstrated just how much potential lies in diversity. Such initiatives bring Europe to life and forge connections that extend far beyond a single programme week,” reports Tatjana Erlewein.
The DIVERSE European University Alliance is an example of successful European higher education cooperation. Despite a lack of long-term funding, the Alliance has continuously expanded its cooperation and has been awarded the Seal of Excellence in recognition of its achievements. This underlines the importance of initiative, commitment and a shared European understanding for the further development of the European Higher Education Area. The intensive exchange between students from different countries and disciplines not only promotes the development of their personal skills but also strengthens the European network as a whole.
