Young talents, networking and lifelong learning
The future of our society depends to a large extent on progress in STEM subjects. Factors such as decarbonisation, digitalisation, demographic change and deglobalisation are further intensifying this need and highlighting just how important well-trained STEM professionals are for the economy, climate protection and social development. At the same time, Germany is facing a significant shortage of skilled workers.
STEM education plays a key role in this regard: it strengthens innovation and competitiveness. It also offers great potential to inspire more young people – particularly girls – to take an interest in these fields and to reduce existing inequalities. Rosenheim Technical University of Applied Sciences is therefore highly committed, offering a range of initiatives from teacher training to workshop days to mentoring programmes.

Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences is the organising body behind MINTregion18, which serves as a central platform for bringing together stakeholders from the fields of education, business and public life to promote STEM subjects.

Programmes for children and teenagers
Through events held at the various campuses of Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences and during open days offering an insight into technical careers, curiosity and enthusiasm for STEM subjects are fostered from as early as primary school. A welcome side effect: ideas for future career choices.

Days of action
The aim of our action days is to experience STEM outside the classroom. Whether as part of a community festival or an open day, personal interactions and hands-on experiments open up new perspectives.

Training programmes for educators and teachers
Children discover the world with curiosity and a spirit of inquiry – and this is precisely where early STEM education comes in. Through our programmes, we equip educational professionals and teachers with the skills to inspire a passion for maths, computing, science and technology in children from nursery and primary school age onwards. In a practical, creative and everyday-oriented way, we provide ideas on how STEM topics can be integrated into educational processes in a playful and sustainable manner.
We deliver most of these programmes as a network partner of the ‘Kinder forschen’ Foundation, but other programmes are also part of the initiative.

School labs for class visits
A series of laboratories is being built on the campus of Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences, designed to serve as extracurricular learning spaces. Depending on their interests – ranging from aerospace to recycling to nanotechnology – school classes will be able to take part in a themed day featuring various workshops.
minTHROpia Science Center
A Science Centre is being built on the campus of Rosenheim Technical University of Applied Sciences, designed to serve as an innovative learning space for future-oriented skills. Through hands-on experiments, interdisciplinary learning and fascinating insights into modern career fields, the aim is to inspire lasting enthusiasm for technology and innovation among young people, children, families and tourists alike.
The project is currently in the planning phase.
