Building Biology, Airway and Indoor Health
The Technology Transfer Center (TTC) for Building Biology, Airway and Indoor Health was approved by the Bavarian Council of Ministers in July 2024 as part of the “Hightech Transfer Bayern” technology initiative. The TTC is a science-based innovation driver in the Berchtesgadener Land region. It is aimed in particular at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that do not have their own research department and which, with the TTC, have the opportunity to commission targeted application-oriented research projects.
The Rosenheim Technical University of Applied Sciences thus becomes a think tank and development partner for local companies with the support of the municipalities. The TTC conducts application-oriented research and development, reviews and evaluates the health impact of established, novel, and recycled materials, and tests technological solutions in the areas of building materials, sustainability, and resource conservation.
Healthy construction means building in such a way that residents and users feel comfortable indoors. In addition, they should not become ill and the building should not cause any adverse effects by emitting pollutants.
Our research approach focuses on the biological and physical relevance of materials and products, whereby conventional and novel materials and products are evaluated for their physiological relevance and can be modified accordingly. This results in a sustainable solution for a higher quality of life and a better environment.
By combining biological systems and other elements from the building environment, our research and development work is extremely efficient and leads to solutions that were previously impossible. We thus offer answers, for example, to the influence of our indoor air, which reflects the increasing complexity in material and component development. Greater functionality and performance are achieved through a holistic view of all sub-steps in the process and value chain.
