What will the future of teaching look like, and how can we scale up green technologies across Europe?
Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences (THRO) recently provided answers to these questions at two events held at Griffith College in Dublin: the GT4T project meeting and the Presidents’ Meeting of the DIVERSE European University Alliance, which brought together the heads of all 12 DIVERSE partner institutions from 11 European countries.
The GT4T project meeting centred on the issue of sustainability: how can GT4T outcomes be sustained after the project ends and transferred to other academic departments, universities, regions and the DIVERSE Alliance?
To this end, future collaboration will focus on identifying potential research partnerships, joint teaching programmes and the promotion of student innovation activities. Our contribution, presented by Michael Kriegel, Kevin Lippmann and Stephanie Kapitza, was as follows: combining challenge-based learning, design thinking and modular learning programmes – this included an on-site interactive design thinking workshop as well as the presentation of the Design Thinking Playbook, the Challenge-Based Learning Playbook and the newly developed ‘Entrepreneurship’ micro-credential.
Moving towards the future together: During the DIVERSE Alliance’s strategic meeting, the decision was taken to set the course for even closer international networking. The focus was on joint educational initiatives, new opportunities for international research and facilitating cross-border collaboration for students, lecturers and researchers. Priorities for the near future are:
- Joint degree programmes | THRO is already involved in developing an Erasmus Mundus-funded Joint Master’s in International Business and Geopolitics
- Micro-credentials | THRO is involved in 3 of the 5 planned micro-credentials
- Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs) | numerous BIPs with DIVERSE partners have been delivered by or attended by the THRO, as well as
- Joint, Europe-wide research projects
- Access to EU funding
We look forward to implementing these projects and to further valuable collaboration with our European partners!
