Process automation engineers are employed for automation tasks in the process industry. Graduates have access to a variety of occupational fields, including process control engineering, project engineering for automation, project management, data and plant security, and safety engineering.

Learning Contents

Students of IBE specialisation Process Automation Technology are given solid training in engineering with the fundamentals of chemistry, process engineering and systems engineering. We focus on process control engineering with measurement, control and regulation technology. Automation technology thus is the link between the disciplines. Aspects of digitalisation such as big data and methods of process optimisation are the topics of later semesters. Safety technology of systems and its implementation through measurement, control and regulation technology is another focus area of this specialisation. Interdisciplinary modules such as methodological skills, practical lab units and a practical semester round off the Process Automation Technology specialisation. These are carried out in close collaboration with the industry in the ChemDelta Bavaria, so that students receive a practical and job market oriented  education. Students apply their acquired skills in industrial work experience and a business project.
