Specialist Required Elective Course (FWPM) of the Faculty of Engineering Sciences: Information and links
Subject-specific compulsory elective modules (FWPM for short) are provided for all Bachelor's degree programmes of the Faculty of Engineering (exception: EIT Master's, ING Master's). The faculty provides an up-to-date catalogue of the subjects that can be taken every semester.
There are the following FWPM electives:
FWPM-ING-General of the entire Faculty of Engineering Sciences.
MEC-FWPM-election, MB-FWPM-election, MT-FWPM-election as internal FWPM-elections of individual degree programmes.
The elections are always held at the same time.

Then click on "FWPM-Wahl" in the left column on "FWPMs wählen" (choose FWPMs) and there determine the desired specification and sequence from the subjects offered.

FWPM election instructions for students
The election is only possible during the period indicated below.

The following basic regulations apply:
- FWPM can only be offered if the minimum number of participants specified in the catalogue is reached after completion of the elective.
- For some compulsory elective modules there are limits to the maximum number of participants.
- In addition to the subjects offered in the subject catalogue, some subjects of the Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Management or also of other faculties can be taken. The choice of subjects is made according to the procedure of the respective faculty.
- Furthermore, it is possible to apply to the examination committee to have subjects from other faculties admitted as compulsory elective modules. In the case of admission, the student must clarify with the lecturer concerned whether participation in the desired subject is possible.
- The approved application must then be submitted to the Examinations Office as registration for the examination in that subject.
- Registration at the Examinations Office is also required for examinations in compulsory elective modules.
- If a choosen module has fewer than 5 participants in the first course or fewer than the minimum participants specified in the module, the module will be cancelled.
- Attention: In the degree programme MB-B, only the modules specified in the degree programme Machines Engineering MB internal FWPM are recognised as FWPM.
- Attention: In the degree programme MEC-B, only the modules specified in the degree programme Mechatronics MEC internal FWPM are recognised as FWPM.
- Attention: In the degree programme MT-B, only the modules specified in the degree programme Medical Technology MT internal FWPM are recognised as FWPM.
In general, you can also choose any subject from other faculties as FWPM with an application for registration for elective subject from external degree programmes.
However, the approval of the lecturer and the examination board of your degree programme is required. The approved application must be handed in at the Examinations Office. It also counts as an examination registration if registration via the Online Service Centre is not possible. This also applies to technical language courses. Only 2 SWS are credited towards the FWPM.

The FWPM selection for the winter semester 2023/24 for Bachelor students of the Faculty of Engineering Sciences
Begin on 22.11.2023
End on 10.12.2023.
A deselection from the FWPM from the subjects that one does not wish to take from 11.12.2023 to 13.12.2023.
The announcement of the FWPMs that have been taken will probably be made during 15.12.2023.

Important notice:

The FWPM "Applied Didactics" and "Engineering Project" are listed in the catalogue, but cannot be selected directly via the FWPM choice in the communities.
