PRO-Aktjv-1+2

Physics and mathematics in Rosenheim – Aktiv und kontinuierlich just-in-time verstehen

Pro-Aktjv, the acronym translates as “Understanding Physics and Mathmatics in Rosenheim – actively and continously just-in-time”, is the current project from Rosenheim Technical University of Applied Sciences to enhance learning in the STEM-field. It is part of the project “BayernMINT” founded from the Bavarian Ministry for Science, Research and Culture.

Objectives:

  • Applying, fostering and deepen different active learning methods for students at Rosenheim TUAS to obtain an improved conceptual understanding in physics
  • Dissemination of the methods: spreading to other fields at Rosenheim TUAS and in Physics to other universities
  • Exchange of learning material between different universities
  • Main focus is on Just-in-Time-Teaching (JiTT), Peer Instruction (PI) and ‘Tutorials’ developed by Mc Dermott et al.

Workshops

We presented our teaching methods (JiTT/ PI) on different workshops and talks. Most of the workshops were presented in a JiTT/ PI style and the participants could develop their own JiTT and PI lesson to take home.
