Application

The application period for the IBE degree programme runs from 1 November 2022 to 15 January 2023. The start of studies will be in the summer semester 2023.

For your application at TH Rosenheim, you need a VPD (preliminary review documentation) of your higher education entrance qualification by uni-assist! You can already apply for a review with uni-assist from 1 September 2022 onwards. Please directly apply for the International Bachelor of Engineering at uni-assist, and not the specilisation you want to study. You pick your specialisation after the start of studies.

Higher Education Entrance Qualification

Are you eligible to apply?  Check whether your school qualifications meet the requirements for direct access to the International Bachelor of Engineering or if you need extra academic experience for your application. Check here.

Uni-assist

If you want to apply to TH Rosenheim, you need a valid VPD (preliminary review documentation) from uni-assist. You will need to upload your higher education entrance qualifications/school or university leaving certificates to their application portal. Uni-assist is ithen going to review your documents if they match the admission requirements for German universities. You will have to pay 75.00 EUR for the assessment of your certificate by uni-assist for your first desired study programme in an application semester. Each additional desired course of study in the same application semester costs 30.00 EUR

Please make sure to apply for either a Bachelor VPD (for a bachelor's degree programme) or a Master VPD (for a master's degree programme)! You will be able to apply to uni-assist from 1 September (summer semester) and 1 March (winter semester).

  1. Register with uni-assist.
  2. Upload your higher education entrance qualifications/school or university leaving certificates.
  3. Apply to TH Rosenheim with your valid VPD.

Your VPD does not expire. TH Rosenheim will accept VPDs made out for other Bavarian universities or universities of applied sciences in the relevant field of studies. 

Studienkolleg

Applicants from certain countries, particularly non-EU ones, may require some introductory academic experience alongside their higher education entrance qualification. If that applies to you, you might have to attend a preparatory course (“Studienkolleg”) in Germany before applying to Rosenheim Technical University of Applied Sciences. Information on Studienkollegs in Germany can be found at studienkollegs.de

In Bavaria, the Studienkolleg you would normally attend in order to apply to a university of applied scienes is Studienkolleg Coburg

Language Requirements

In order to apply for the IBE, you will need a language level of German A2 and English B2.

The following German language tests are recognised:

  • Deutsches Sprachdiplom (DSD) der Kultusministerkonferenz level 1
  • Goethe certificate level A2/B1
  • TELC certificate level A2
  • Successfully completed German courses at a university of at least 4 ECTS credits at level A2 or higher according to the CEFR
  • At least 3 years of German lessons at school, proven by a German higher education entrance qualification or an equivalent, recognised translation into German or English of the higher education entrance qualification from a non-German school. Certificates in English do not have to be translated.

The following English language tests are recognised:

  • Internet-based TOEFL with 72 or more points,
  • IELTS with a band score of 6.0 or higher,
  • Cambridge CEFR B2 First (FCE), Grade C or higher,
  • Cambridge CEFR C1 Advanced (CAE) with level B2 or higher,
  • At least 6 years of English tuition at school with a minimum grade of “satisfactory” in the final year, evidenced by a German higher education entrance qualification or an equivalent, recognised translation into German or English of the higher education entrance qualification from a non-German school. Certificates in English do not have to be translated.

Native English speakers are not required to submit proof of adequate English language skills. In cases of doubt or non-submission of proof, applicants may be required to additionally/alternatively pass a language test comparable to those listed above at TH Rosenheim.
